Land Rover Defender
The Land Rover Defender (initially called the Land Rover 90 and Land Rover 110) is one of the longest running models in the Land Rover range, the first built in June 1948 and ran until the last Defender was produced in January 2016, We understand that Land Rover are going to produce a brand new Defender in the near future,
The long running Defender has meant that there is quite a range of engine and transmission options over the years, both Petrol and Diesel.
One of the most popular vehicles currently is the every popular TD5 model, this is a very robust model with suffers with a number of problems, which we see and resolve on a regular if not weekly basis. Common problems include difficult or non-start, rough running and cutting out. Injector seal failure and injector and engine loom intermittent breakdown, which if not caught quickly can lead to bent connecting rods and the need for an engine rebuild. One of the results of the problems with the injector harness is engine oil travelling down the loom into the Engine ECU, which can then cause intermittent and even permanent failure of the vehicle to start.
Land Rover Defender Repair & Servicing - Rolling Road
We have been servicing and repairing Land Rover Defenders for many years and have the same Diagnostic Equipment - Land Rover SDD & Topix as regular Land Rover Dealers, this along with all our other more specialised equipment means that we can offer far more than regular garages or "independent specialists" who don't have our expertise or equipment. One of the unique 'tools' we have that helps us with defenders is our Rolling Road Dynamometer which allows us to find all manner of suspension and steering problems as we can and often do drive the Defenders in our workshop at speeds up to 150mph! Normally 20 or 30 miles an hour is enough to determine the cause of most suspension problems. We also have 4 Wheel Laser Wheel alignment which allows us to resolve abnormal tyre wear and problems like vague and wandering handling & steering.
We can re-cut the injector seats and fit new seals to the injectors to resolve the problem of leaking injectors. Minor mechanical and electrical repairs all the way to engine rebuilds, both standard and performance driven.
We can diagnose and repair all the reasons for intermittent and permanent non-start situations on Land Rover Defender models, this includes programming keys, Engine ECU's and the security control unit often known as the 10AS unit.
